On Ideas That Wow



Apple declared war today on all existing and upcoming competition during the first day of their annual developer conference, WWDC 2023.


They announced all of their usual yearly software updates, but most importantly, finally revealed their rumored augmented reality headset to the world, called the Apple Vision Pro.


There are plenty of places on the internet to get more details, and you can always watch the show recap for all the juicy bits. I'm still processing it myself.


As for the device, it's 5000 patents incredible. It plugs into their existing ecosystem and enhances it on an entirely new level.


Apple wants to define the "Spacial Computing" category and it's off to a great start.


Watching the event, I felt like Apple compiled all of the near-future sci-fi I've enjoyed the most over the years, and said: The wait is over. The future is here.


Greg, you want to be Iron Man? Here's the Apple Vision Pro. Now go be Iron Man.


Well almost. The Apple Vision Pro will be released next year in 2024.


Oh...And one more thing.


Just like the first iPhone, it won't be perfect. It will be missing things. It will be awkward. People will complain. Battery life will probably suck.


But ideas are meant to be shipped, sent into the world to capture feedback, and be iterated on until their first iterations are a distant, if not a forgotten memory.
