On Getting Inspired

One of the things that has become crystal clear to me after showing up every day to write for 95 consecutive days is that inspiration, while motivating, is also fleeting.

On some days I found it, but more often than not it was nowhere in sight.

Had I waited every day for it to arrive, I probably wouldn't have made it this far.

What has worked more consistently for me is to just start typing, not staring at a blank page.

Then the words would start flowing. The action preceded any inspiration.

It was as true on my twenty first post as it is today.

Sometimes you just have to be your own inspiration, and not rely on anything or anyone external.

Five more days until I hit one hundred straight posts is all the inspiration I need to keep going.

That's a winning feeling.
