On Bad Ideas

Updated: May 6, 2023

Bad movies and plays get produced.

As do millions of commercials and ads.

There's bad design everywhere.

Silly toys, games, and apps that don't get played are funded and created almost daily.

Amazon and Barnes & Nobles carry millions of bad books (Let's not get started on the eBooks!).

The reality is bad ideas still get executed. They're deemed "bad" because the market didn't respond well, whether it was poor quality, bad timing, lack of need, wrong audience, or too niche.

Ultimately the market will determine if your idea gets the thumbs up or down, but that can't happen if you never execute the idea in the first place. Most importantly the feedback needed to bring forward better ideas can't happen either without the bravery to put more ideas into the world.

Be brave and iterate.
